Shiraz 2006
Heathcote

Our Shiraz fruit is grown in the cool climate Heathcote region. The hand harvested fruit is spared no expense to give the best care in our winery and matured in French oak barriques for 18 months.
This deeply coloured Heathcote Shiraz has plum and blackberry fruit with a hint of spice. The intense fruit characters develop on the palate with fine grained tannins and a slight bitter chocolate finish. Enjoy this wine for up to ten years with good cellaring.
Dense crimson; an archetypal Heathcote shiraz, with layers of black fruits, licorice and a touch of pepper on the bouquet and palate alike; full-bodied, the black fruits having a juicy element balanced by the tannins. Diam.14.5% alc. Rating 94 Drink 2026 $50 Date Tasted Feb 09

Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot "The Gate" 2004

All fruit for this wine was hand picked from our Long Gully vineyard in Healesville, Yarra Valley. This wine exhibits the aromas of dark berry fruits and the palate is an explosion of small berry fruits with some spicy oak characters. It has great length with a firm tannin backbone. This wine opens up beautifully when it is decantered an hour before serving.
"Deep colour; a very powerful and concentrated wine with masses of blackcurrent, cassis and blackberry fruit; better balanced extract and tannins than the Pinot, and - anyway - this is Cabernet Sauvignon."

Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot "The Gate" 2005
Yarra Valley

The fruit for the 2005 Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot is from our Long Gully vineyard at Healesville. The fruit was hand harvested on April 11. Vinification occurred in both open top and closed fermenters. Hand plunging and pump over manipulations were employed to aid colour and tannin extraction. After pressing, the wine was matured for 15 months in French oak barriques, of which 20% were new.
"Classis cabernet sauvignon with fine tannins running through from the start of the palate to the finish, almost Italianate in its structure. Needs time to settle down and allow the cabernet currant and cassis fruit to express itself."

This fruit was hand picked on the 28 March at the entrance of our Long Gully Rd vineyard. This wine displays a deep garnet colour and displays the typical characters of plum, cherries, forest undergrowth and violets. These flavours are evident on the palate, with great length, a hint of oak and a warm velvet finish.
"A fraction cloudy; a huge wine, particularly for the vintage; heavy extraction has liberated abundant plum fruit, but even more tannins. In a particular style which will have great appeal to some."

The fruit for our 2005 Pinot Noir is from our Yarra Valley vineyard at Healesville. The fruit was hand harvested on March 16. After crushing, it was vinified in open top fermenters. The fruit was hand plunged to aid gentle tanning extraction. After pressing this wine was matured in French oak barriques for 15 months. 20% of this French oak was new.
"Gently foresty overtones to red fruits on the bouquet lead into a long palate which, while savoury, is not bitter, just complex. A pinot drinkers' pinot. "

Pinot Gris "The View" 2008

This fruit is grown on the high steep slopes of Long Gully ridge enjoying cool climate conditions. Hand harvested fruit is treated with utmost care in our winery and matured in French oak barriques.
This Pinot Gris is pale straw in colour with slight bronze tinges. It has subtle pear and mineral fruit flavours. The flavour concentration occurs on the palate along with a savoury nutty finish. This wine can be enjoyed for up to five years.

Chardonnay "The View" 2004
Yarra Valley

This fruit was entirely grown and hand picked from our Healesville vineyard on March 28th. This wine displays a straw colour with a slight hint of green. It exhibits citrus characters, particularly grape fruit, white stone fruit and roasted kernel. The palate is both delicate and complex due to its lees and spicy oak influences.

This wine was produced entirely from fruit grown at our estate vineyard at Healesville. The fruit was hand picked on March 20 and pressed and cold settled for 48 hours. It was then racked, inoculated and, when actively fermenting, transferred into French oak barriques. Upon the completion of its alcoholic and malo-lactic fermentations, it was matured in cask for 12 months. Matured on lees with periodic stirring, this wine was then lightly fined and filtered.
"At once elegant, subtle yet very complex; barel ferment, mlf and lees all contribute to the texture and mouthful, and are seamlessly maried with nectarine, fig and cream; ageing slowly but surely."

Has the length and persistence of all top Yarra Valley chardonnay, the flavours within a tight ring of nectarine and grapefruit, the oak balanced and integrated. Diam.
